WESTBOROUGH – The Economic Development Committee has launched Shop Westborough, an online business directory.

It’s aimed at promoting local businesses while also making it easier for residents and visitors to shop locally.

The directory is made up of 164 listings of retail, sales and services businesses, and it allows users to search the listings by keywords, distance, industry and status as a minority-owned, women-owned or veteran-owned business.

Efforts to create the directory started in March 2021 when the town began participating in the Local Rapid Recovery Program through the State Department of Housing and Community Development.

The town’s plan was completed last September. One of the recommendations was for the town to create an online business directory, which was then prioritized for implementation by staff.

Westborough later received a $25,000 grant through the Regional Economic Development Organization Grant Program administered by the 495/ MetroWest Partnership.

The town later hired 3 Media Web to help design and implement the portal.

Westborough businesses can still add themselves to the directory by filling out a form at https://www.shopwestboroughma.com/add-your-business/. To access the directory, visit https://www.shopwestboroughma.com/.
