New York state’s highest court has sided with charter school network Success Academy in a dispute with New York City education officials regarding oversight of universal prekindergarten programs.
In a 5-2 decision on Tuesday, the state Court of Appeals said the New York City Department of Education
went too far when it required Success Academy Charter Schools to sign a contract with specific curricular requirements in exchange for funding 72 prekindergarten students.
